Description: Sparkman & Stephens 34 EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION, SUPERBLY UPGRADED!
The legendary S&S34 is a vessel that really needs no introduction. Renowned for its exceptional sailing performance and Bluewater capability, it has proven its self the vessel of choice for true adventurers to undertake the ultimate sailing challenge - a solo, non-stop, unassisted, circumnavigation of the globe. From 16 year old Jessica Watson, and 17 year old Jessie Martin, to the highly experienced Jon Sanders, these iconic vessels have more than proven their worth in the most challenging conditions the oceans can throw at them. Designed in 1968 as a versatile cruiser/racer, they quickly reached international fame when British Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath became the owner of the first production S&S 34,'Morning Cloud' which won the 1969 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race as well as a class win in the Fastnet Race. Since then, the design has continued to prove highly competitive in all rating systems, with multiple vessels being currently utilised for the growing double handed divisions as well as fully crewed in Australia's premiere offshore racing events. Equally suited to cruising, they are easily sailed by a novice, and have the amenities to be enjoyed as comfortable family yachts. This vessel is a superb example of the design. Built by Swarbrick WA, it was completed in NSW with the 'Luxury' fitout with quality teak and celery top timber work throughout. Purchased by the current experienced owners in 2008, the vessel has been extensively upgraded, and presents as a true turn key package, ready to enjoy. In the last three years these major upgrades include REFURBISHMENT OF THE MAST INCLUDING RE-SPRAY, NEW STANDING RIGGING, NEW MAINSAIL TRACK WITH ROLLER-BEARING CARS, AND NEW WIRING, NEW SELDON BOOM WITH SINGLE LINE REEFING AND ROD KICKER, NEW RAYMARINE WIRELESS INSTRUMENTS AND AUTOPILOT, HULL STRIPPED BACK TO GELCOAT FOR A FAIR FINISH, TOP SIDES RE-SPRAYED, BRIGHT-WORK ALL PROFESSIONALLY RE-VARNISHED, NEW BATTERIES AND 12V SYSTEM REFURBISHED, NEW 2000W INVERTER, NEW POLYURETHANE WATER TANKS, REFURBISHED GAS SYSTEM WITH 2 X NEW STAINLESS STEEL GAS BOTTLES, COPPER PIPING, AND NEW COMPLIANCE PLATE, the list goes on! This vessel now presents a rare opportunity to enjoy a yacht of this calibre with all the hard work done. Whether you want to explore the stunning waters of Southern Tasmania, utilise its impressive performance racing, of fulfil your most ambitious sailing aspirations, this is a vessel that can do it all in style and safety!

Stepping inside, the quality of the timber fitout is immediately evident. The traditional teak is beautifully paired with clean white finishes, creating a warm and welcoming ambience. To port is the gleaming timber dinette. This is cleverly mounted on a pneumatic table system allowing it to be easily lowered and rotated into multiple positions. There is seating for 6 in comfort on the neatly upholstered settees, and plenty of room to relax and unwind after a days sailing. The well appointed galley is to starboard and is fully equipped with top loading gas fridge (with NEW 2018 compressor), 2 burner gas stove with oven, stainless steel sink with pressurised water, and plenty of storage for extended stays on board. The accommodation is ideal for cruising with family and friends. There is a private double v-berth forward, large pilot berth aft, single settee berth, and the dinette easily converts to a large double berth when additional accommodation is required. Forward is the private bathroom with toilet, vanity, and shower. Being a true sailor's yacht, the package is complete with generous chart table complete with VHF Radio, and electrical controls.

Outside, the cockpit is well protected by the NEW 2017 Spray dodger. The vessel is easily sailed single handed with the mainsail with roller bearing cars in the boom bag with lazy jacks, furling headsail, NEW 2022 Raymarine autopilot, and all lines lead back to the cockpit. The NEW 2023 Seldon boom is set up with single line reefing, ensuring there is no need to leave the safety of the cockpit in challenging conditions, and further adding to the ease of use of the vessel. There is easy access around the side decks, and an electric anchor winch on the bow for easy anchoring.

This vessel is powered by a NEW in 2008 Yanmar 30HP Diesel Engine with only 1600hrs on the clock. Having been serviced annually it provides excellent reliability and economical cruising at 5-6 knots.

With its capability, extensive list of upgrades, and superb presentation, this is simply a vessel not to miss! For more information please call Jo Breen on or John Radonic .
