This well maintained vessel was built by General Boat Builders at Clontarf Brisbane in 1999 to the design of Jon Sayer. Jon Sayer has a reputation for designing yachts that are fast, well balanced and strong. He is a leader in innovative design and technology. This vessel
absolutely show cases the art and skill required to produce a vessel of this quality. She is open plan creating a sense of a much larger interior.
Construction is western red cedar strip planking epoxy saturated and overlayed with glass laminate.
The general layout is open plan with enclosed private bathroom. The deck is built from composite glass/foam sandwich supported by laminated beams and bulkheads. The keel is a steel fabrication dynamically faired and carrying the lead bulb ballast of around 2.5 tons. This is a two owner vessel the first owner retired the vessel and himself from racing and the 2.5m deep keel was shortened to 2 meters. This modification with designers approval relieved the vessel of a great deal of internal forces and possibly improving sea keeping qualities with minimal effect on stability. The hollow keel fabrication also doubles as the fuel tank.
The vessel is powered by a fresh water cooled 3 cylinder Lombardini diesel engine driving through a sail drive leg.
The sail drive leg which is around eight years old was fitted with new gearbox internals in 2020. The propeller is a 2 blade folding type made by Slipstream from stainless steel castings/forgings.
The vessel is rigged as a 3/4 fractional sloop rigged with alloy mast supported by 2 sets of swept back spreaders.
The chainplates are cut from 8mm stainless steel plate and thru bolted to the topsides. All standing rigging was replaced in March 2019 with quality die form stainless steel wire.
