This is an exceptional cruising yacht, built to exacting standards by Bluewater Yachts in 1996 and superbly craftsman fitted in classic Teak. The Bluewater 400 Raised Saloon combines exceptional space, light and comfort with legendary offshore sailing performance. Unique among the widely traveled and renowned Joe Adams designed Bluewater 400s, this Australian Registered yacht has safely circumnavigated the globe twice and is poised for further sailing adventures.
The spacious and welcoming six-berth interior features three private double berth cabins, two heads with hot & cold showers, a roomy main cabin with a nice sized saloon table and entertainming space together with a proper navigation centre with electronics and communications close at hand. Many hatches and opening ports provide plenty of light and ventilation when required. The well equipped galley has a Broadwater gas stove with oven and grill plus a microwave oven, eutectic refrigeration and a gas BBQ at the stern.
Her inventory is as comprehensive as you would expect of a twice world-girdling yacht. Sea Bird has been set up to be safely and easily navigated and sailed short-handed in all conditions. The cutter rigged sail plan has a fully battened 3-reef mainsail, a furling genoa on the forestay and a hanked on heavy weather staysail on a detachable inner forestay. The storm trisail has a separate luff track on the mast for rapid deployment when needed. A spinnaker and an asymmetric cruising MPS add somer downwind sailing excitement. Andersen winches including an electric mainsail halyard and mainsheet winch take care of the hard work. A Wichard boom brake allows safe gybing in stronger winds. The stainless steel wire standing rigging was fitted new in 2019 so she is good to go.
This Bluewater 400 RS is powered by a well maintained and reliable Yanmar 4JH2E 51 HP diesel engine with shaft drive to an Autostream3-blade feathering propeller. The yacht has extensive storage and tankage allowing for extended self-sufficient offshore passages. Her powerful Autopilot ensures she is readily sailed short-handed in all conditions.
Safety at sea is paramount and this yacht is well found in that regard with an array of safety equipment including a life raft and an unsinkable alloy dinghy that can stow on the foredeck or hang in stern mounted davits.
There is so much more to see on this outstanding Bluewater 400RS offshore crusing yacht. Perfect for coastal and offshore cruising or as a very comfortable extended live-aboard, this is a yacht that serious cruisers should consider.
