Bertram Caribbean 40 Extensive improvements list

From time to time, we come across an older model boat that's the cheque book thrown at it. This Caribbean 40 is one of these examples. She was already a well-presented vessel that was good to go. But to the current owner's credit, he has made so many improvements to the systems and equipment onboard that make this vessel a standout from the standpoint of usability and reliability. He's also a realist enough to know that he isn't going to get his investment back and the next owner will sail off into the sunset with huge bang for their buck, with around $200,000 spent in the last 18 months or so.

The Caribbean 40 needs no introduction in Australia and in particular Western Australia. They are a well built and practical boat that serves so well across various uses from hard core fishing out wide to sipping a Chardonnay in the bays at Rotto, entertaining guests while cruising the rivers and estuaries, or weeks aboard with mates at The Abrolhos Islands.

-Full out of water antifoul annuals and boat polish completed March 2025

Salty Dog has a light and airy interior with clean and fresh upholstery. Her flybridge clears and carpets still look great. She also has extensive cockpit covers so it can be completely enclosed with breezeway screens to keep the weather out when at rest.
A high-quality eutectic refrigeration system provides a deep chest style fridge in the cockpit and one in the galley plus a large under bench unit. Enough cold stores to feed all the crew on an Abrolhos trip.

The Citor desalinator has been upgraded from 90 lph to 140 lph and provides an endless fresh water supply so the showers can be long. Fore and aft deck wash outlets have been converted to fresh water so there's no excuse for not rinsing the salt off when you reach your destination.

A brand new 3m rib with new Honda four stoke outboard sits neatly out of the way above the rear deck and can be easily launched and retrieved using the new custom fitted electric davit system.
Salty Dog is the perfect package for those who want a bigger boat with all the work and improvements having been done. And one that won't break the budget.
