All round performance trailer sailer with a high stability factor and a simple yet highly effective deck layout. Construction is Kevlar on the outside and Carbon on the inside of a foam core. 'Out of the Blue' was built in Cairns by boatbuilder, Shayne Young.
Draft with the keel down is 2.6 meters. The keel fin is a hollow fabrication with two box-section stiffeners running full depth. The lead bulb is bolted to a flange plate at the bottom of the fin. The fin is deeply notched at the top end to allow the fin to be retracted for trailering. With the keel up the bulb is almost snug with the hull. The rudder is a
very deep blade hung outboard and also retractable
A 2 metre-protruding prod is incorporated into the forestay fitting so that when not in use, it is pulled back into the yacht from the cockpit. The prod caters for a large masthead asymmetrical spinnaker, as well as a fractional on top down furlers..
