Beautiful offshore passage maker in good condition with remarkable space below. Vailima features a fully protected pilothouse, beautiful interior timber fit out, and a stunning aft cabin with walk-around bed. Length 41' (12.5m), beam, 4.27m, draft 1.75m, 13 tonnes, fin keel.
Designed by Ben Lexcen this very robust and stable vessel, launched in 1992, was built by Rosin Fibreglass (QLD) and fitted out by Buttrose (QLD). She has been well maintained throughout her life. Presented with a very comprehensive inventory suitable for bluewater sailing and coastal cruising. Extras include diesel heating, solar and wind power generation, good sail inventory from storm sail to MPS, excellent ground tackle, and essential spare parts.
In the past five years extensive replacements, upgrades and improvements have been comissioned including:
-Engine(Beta 50 Hp, ~410 hours, cruise speed 5 - 8 knots)
-Exhaust system, 3 x new fuel tanks (~420 L) Fuel lines
-Switch panels and 12 volt wiring throughout
-Air Silent X wind generator, new bilge pumps
-Davit mounted tender - Highfield 2.9m RIB with sun protection cover, beach wheels, and 9.9Hp Yamaha outboard, all in very good condition.
In September 2024 the standing rigging was replaced, new house batteries were installed, both furlers were replaced (Reefit), Vailima was anti fouled and a new gas certificate was issued. Also the anchor winch was completely rewired in October.
Vailima has made four trips from Queensland to Tasmania, one trip to Lord Howe Is, and three trips along Tasmania's south and west coast to north of Port Davey. Vessel is in the Sydney region.
Boat is currently the home of a young German family that sailed her from Tasmania to Sydney in October 2024. Sadly letting her go to get back in the rat race.
