SV Merissa (formally Sri Ulu)

Salangan Batu Hardwood (absolutely no rot) Built by Ling Bros. Sarawak Borneo 1974
-Engine Gardner 6LXB
-400L fuel
-Last official haulout and re-caulk (September 2024)

Merissa is a solid vessel, with a strong engine. She excudes character and has a colourful history in FNQ.
I lived aboard and renovated her with a young child on board between 2021 and 2025 (purchased in the Bloomfield River, sailed between Port Douglas and Cairns).

She has had many day trips out to Low Isles and is low on fuel consumption.

I bought this vessel as the second owner and have upgraded and installed numerous parts including;
- Compass (2022)
- Depth Sounder
- New hydraulic anchor winch clutch
- 2x 200L stainless steel diesel tanks (2022)
- Racor filter (2022)
- Recently reconditioned starter motor (December 2024)
- Marine radio (new as of 2022)
- 70 pound anchor
- 40 pound anchor
- Stern anchor and spare chain
- 2x soolar panels
- 4x vintage ship running LED lights (port, starboard, mast, anchor)
- LED strip light down below
- Double and Single berth
- New hardwood floor fitted down below 2022
- Rosewood room/door built for head (toilet)
- Partitians added downstairs for privacy

Extras to be included:

- Tender and outboard (Yamaha outboard 4 stroke 4hp)
- Full set of brass caulking irons and caulking mallet
- All tools (hand and electric)
- Cyclone ropes
- 4 waterproof storage tool boxes

SV Merissa is currently hauled out in Cairns.

Remarks
I had plans of building a cottage style cabin on the back deck, installing a galley and shower down below, but we lived comfortably in the back shelter, showering at the yacht club or having rain showers and cooking with a gas burner on deck for 4.5 years. I just don't have time to dedicate the love to Merissa that she deserves anymore, as my daughter gets older and takes precedence over my attention.
