Description: Sparkman & Stephens 34
Keremeos (Swarbrick's hull number 104, improved skeg rudder model) received the luxury teak fit out from Maybrooks in NSW and was launched in 1983. Careful owners have preserved her quality. Over the last 3 years she has had considerable work done. The underwater hull has been brought back to gel coat and professionally refinished with a tri-coat system. She was resprayed above the waterline. Her mast was stripped, repainted, new halyards where needed, new wiring, LED lights, and all standing rigging replaced. A Tides Marine track system was installed for quick mainsail use. A new Selden boom with 2 internal one-line reefing, and a solid vang kicker fitted. All lines return to the cockpit. The teak brightwork was stripped and professionally finished with 9 coats of varnish. A new gas system with 2023 compliance plate was installed back to the galley, including two SS externally mounted 4.4kg cylinders with covers. New digital instruments (4) were installed, and a new Raymarine self steering system (the tiller rod remains the same). Below the deck a 30hp Yanmar with saildrive was installed approximately 10 years ago, has about 1700 hours, has been serviced annually and is spotless and provides quiet and extraordinarily reliable running. Two new professionally built polyurethane water tanks have been installed forrard. The electrical system has been overhauled with a new teak switch panel. A hot water system is plumbed in but has not been commissioned by the current owners. The galley has a gas fridge, and an elderly but very functional 2 burner stove with oven and grill. The main cabin, lined with teak, has bespoke strorage fitted in sympathy with the original fit out. Forrard is a separate toilet ansd shower, and double bunk. The main saloon has a new hydraulic table with 4-way adjustment and easily converts to a double bed; also a single berth to starboard, a small pilot berth behind, and a large quarter berth aft behind the navigation area. She has a 2000w inverter, coffee machine, and other luxuries. Jobs still to be done are not critical, the main ones being having the deck resprayed to match the quality finish elswhere, the portholes would enjoy new glass, and the stove works but needs two new burners. Keremeos presents beautifully, and has the added advantage of being comprehensively sailed all year around the Tasmanian East Coast by three family members for a decade, keeping her in trim and a fully functional cruising yacht.
