A great family performance cruiser.
Well maintained and cared for, the Ronautica 400 is an excellent option for someone looking for a boat they can cruise in style and comfort, but with a nice turn of speed for twilight and club racing.
Built in Italy in 2003, Osprey's large cockpit with twin wheels is a great entertaining space, and clever touches abound.
The middle seat is drop down for easy access to the stern, there are teak princess seats in the pushpits and she has an oversized table with an ice-well, designed to be easily removed for racing. The teak in her cockpit was relaid in 2022.
She is currently set up with a full length traveller and german main system, but there is a provision to move to a cabin top traveller to provide even more space in the cockpit.
Internally she is very well laid out with a large u shaped galley, two rear double cabins, a vee berth and two heads. Her large settee and table can be converted into another double berth. Well finished in warm cherry tones, her oversized hatches allow for an abundance of light and ventilation.
Osprey has a good sail inventory with a North 3di main and medium heavy 3di jib both with plenty of life left in them. There is also a panelled J3 with a UV strip set on the below deck furler, storm sails, and an A2 and S3 for downwind sailing.
Shorthanded sailing is very easy on her- the german mainsheet is easily accessed from the helm, the main is on cars and drops into a boombag with lazy jacks, and the jib is on a below deck furler.
Well looked after by her current and previous owners, there are comprehensive records of all work that has been done to her available.
What is most important, though, is the Ronautica 400 is a joy to sail.
Easily driven, she is both forgiving and responsive, and her comfortable cockpit layout makes trimming easy. Her triple spreader rig and deeper keel give her a real turn of speed, and it is a pleasure to simply hoist the sails and go where the breeze takes you.
