POMPEI BUILT IN MORDIALLOC CREEK IN 1948  

On instructions by the owner to reduce by a huge amount well above the estimated cost of crane lift and transport (was $25000)

I can only describe this as one of those remarkable barn finds!!
I have gone over this yacht very carefully, and she is in very good condition with extensive work on the ribs and hull, it really is ready to antifoul, paint the engine and put her back in the water.

Eleanor was designed by William Atkins and is a class of yacht called the "Little Dipper". A prior owner of Eleanor was Stuart Stubbs, a long time CYAA Treasurer.
She was one of 2 identical yachts built in Mordialloc Creek in 1948 believed to be by the Pompeii brothers. The other yacht was named Avalon which remains somewhere in Port Phillip Bay. Avalon was listed on the CYAA register and RYCV register when owned by Leigh Norgate.
Both yachts were built from oregon.
She's 23´ long with a 7´ beam and a draught of 4´ 8"
She weighs 5.5 tonnes
There's a bowsprit and a bumpkin and although she's only 23´ long with over 5'9" of headroom in the cabin.
Her current owner, the shipwright Franco Pierucci, has done lots of work on her. He bought her as a project. Various sister ribs were installed as she was quite weak. Her hull is now strong enough to be considered as a tiny ocean-worthy craft.
Franco Pierucci is a ship-wright from Italy. Franco was brought out to Australia to work on one of those gazillion dollar San Lorenzo super yachts parked in Gold Coast Marinas. On completion of this project Franco was involved in a Queenscliff marina based restoration project. For his sanity's sake Franco began searching for a just so yacht with a pedigree as long as his arm. Eleanor appeared on his radar and was snapped up. She was deemed a just so yacht and so the restrengthening project began.
