Carrera S (AUS 49005) is one of the finest Marten 49 Performance Cruisers, as she comes with an abundance of enhancements to enjoy your racing or cruising experience.
FOR THE CRUISING ENTHUSIAST:
Carrera S is an "Australian Registered Ship" which allows you to sail in and out of Australia to international ports.
Not only does Carrera S offer all the standard cruising features like a transom swim platform complete with ladder and H/C water shower, cockpit dodger, gas barbecue, magnificent cockpit table and two differing boom tents for protection on those hot days. Carrera S also boasts a lifting keel to 2.1 m (7ft), which allows you to access any marina or anchor a "50ft yacht" close to shore. The anchor can be lowered and raised from the cockpit with an anchor control at the helm. There is also a quality Spectra water maker (USA) installed for blue water cruising.

Carrera S offers you a beautiful Reichel Pugh designed full carbon fibre performance yacht, capable of a serious turn of speed in all weather conditions. One of the significant features of this Reichel Pugh design is the hydraulic lifting keel with a maximum draft of 3.6m, this enhances her outstanding sailing performance. The Southern Spar (NZ) mast and boom are carbon fibre, and the running rigging has been maintained and upgraded by Sydney Rigging.
Included in this very extensive package is complete Category 1 safety classification (expired 30th June 2024), as she has successfully completed in the 2019,2021 and 2023 Sydney Hobart Races. As you would expect, she also has a full complement of quality Doyle racing sails, which are no older than 2019 (Low hours due to COVID restrictions).
The current Owner has focused on ocean passage racing, such as the Auckland Noumea Race, Groupama New Caledonia Race, Sydney Hobart Race (3), Sydney Gold Coast Race, 50th Anniversary Melbourne Hobart Race, Melbourne King Is Race (5), and Adelaide Port Lincoln Race. Carrera S has also been the perfect yacht for Australia's premier Race Week Regattas like Hamilton Is (4), Airlie Beach (3) and Port Lincoln where she has proved to be incredibly competitive.

Remarks
Carrera S has proved to fulfil both the performance and comfort attributes of the Reichel Pugh Marten 49. She has been successful in her original home in NZ with many great race results, culminating with being the RNZYS Club Champion in 2016/17. There have also been some fantastic cruising adventures along the North Island east coast, including around the Bay of Islands by both the former and current Owners.
The current Owner purchased Carrera S in 2017 and has carried out an extensive refit during his 7 year ownership period. During this time, she has competed in Races such as Auckland to Noumea and the Groupama New Caledonia Race in 2018. She then made her way back to Australia and sailed in the popular Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island Race Weeks.
In 2022 Carrera S sailed out of Melbourne in numerous Ocean Racing Club of Victoria (ORCV) events, including the 50th Anniversary Melbourne Hobart Race.
Again in 2023 Carrera S sailed successfully in many ORCV passage races, including the Melbourne Devonport Race (2nd Line Honours) plus CYCA Sydney Cabbage Tree Island and Sydney Hobart Races.
All these great races and regattas are a testament to her dual purpose capabilities as the Marten 49 is certainly known to have a turn of speed matched with her exceptional comfort below deck.
