Fabulous Malbec 290 cruiser/racer, owner changing to cruising/live-aboard.
In my view, the perfect Sydney harbour light cruiser/racer. Delightful to sail - responsive, agile, sprightly upwind, no problem club racing. Nimble, comfortable, capable for a lazy Sunday with a few people with an open transom for swimming, or overnight as a couple and a refreshing Sydney harbour swim in the morning. Awesome under sail, brisk under diesel.
The Good
- Responsive, engaging sailing performance
- Dry, fibreglass, modern design
- Reliable diesel saildrive - smooth, fast and clean - recently serviced, less than 1000 hours total
- Safe, clean, low maintenance
- Warm, comfortable, interior with two sleeping areas
- LED lighting with two high-quality batteries, battery combiner for reliable power, always kept topped up by solar
- Hot water tank and transom shower with hot water (sooooo nice after a swim)
- Just slipped, new antifoul, perfect propellor with new Propspeed
- updated ground tackle including Rocna anchor, please, whatever boat you buy, get one of these
- New toilet with holding tank
- Transom hung rudder is simple and easy to service
The Bad:
- Seriously, none.
The Not-so-good:
- Yes, the sails are tired. You should get some new sails.
- Standing rigging probably should be replaced. Inspections says OK, but good practice says you should change soon.
- BUT, do these things and you have a cracker of a boat.
I am only selling this boat as I moving to motor - my loss is your gain!
