After many years of great adventures around Perth, Cockburn and in some southern inlets I am somewhat reluctantly selling my beloved Majik Jarcat 6 catamaran. Life circumstances have meant that I am not using it as much and no longer have a place to easily store it. It's time for someone else to enjoy life on the water.
The thing I love about Majik is that it is trailerable but also big enough (7.5m long x 2.5m wide) and has a comfortable cabin so you can easily go on overnight or week long trips up rivers, across inlets or into the inshore ocean if the weather is moderate.
Over the last 4 years I have mostly used Majik for 2-3 day trips in the Swan river and around Cockburn Sound (Rockingham, and Garden Island) and it handles those conditions well. I have also taken it down to Walpole's Nornalup inlet (and up both Deep and Frankil Rivers that flow into it) and up the the Blackwood River from Augusta and spent up to 7 days adventuring around these rivers and inlets - and it's just amazing to be out there in nature - and mostly alone because most boats you see you can't sleep on. If I were to keep Majik I would have loved to adventure the inlet at Denmark, the Warren River, Peel Inlet and the Murray River, Broke Inlet, and then up to Ningaloo Reef. I haven't got the sailing skills and ability to confidently take it to Rottnest - so haven't done that - but a sailor friend is confident it would be fine doing that in moderate weather.
Though not a common boat in Western Australia the Jarcat was designed by Ross Turner in the 70's and 80's as an affordable catamaran that enabled individuals and up to a 4 person family to experience low cost life on the water. There are many Jarcats up in Queensland and NSW because of the many inlets and close offshore islands including the great barrier reief - which it is perfect for. Many friends love it because it doesn't lean over much when you are sailing - in fact a cup of coffee will easily sit on deck while sailing if the waves aren't huge.
A you will see if you inspect her, Majik is a work of art inside and out as it was built by a master craftsman in Queensland. Each join and fibreglass coating is done with care which is why it took over 2000 hours to build before being launched in 2002.
Majik is currently located in Perth, Western Australia but is easily trailerable to anywhere in Australia (and has already been trailered from QLD)
I am selling Majik in walk in walk out condition - in other words with everything from the fridge to the cups and plates to enable the next owner to go on an adventure the next day - just add food. I am doing this because it took a long time to get the setup right and when I bought it there was none of this installed.
The setup of the mast and lowering is relatively straight forward however I will walk the new owner through the mast setup and lower and anything else they need to know
I also have a document that the new owner will get that has all the details of the boat including where to get paint, the manuals for the various electronics etc.
Majik is ready for an adventure
