This is a 6.5-meter, hand-built Gokstad Faering replica--crafted 20 years ago by me, a furniture maker. It's a boat built with care and attention to detail, designed to sail and to last.
Over the years, I've taken this boat to the Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart (2005) and the Geelong Boat Festival (2006), and it's never let me down. It's been a joy to sail, but now I need to let it go to finish building my 10-meter Gokstad Saexering.
The boat is solidly built with a 10mm marine hoop pine plywood hull and features Tasmanian Celery Top Pine for the keel, gunnels, frames, rudder, and tiller. It's a boat that feels as good as it looks, and it's hard to find wood like this anymore.
It comes with a custom trailer, recently sandblasted and painted (September '23), and a quality cover from Coverland, designed specifically for this boat.
This is the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere--rare, sturdy, and impossible to replace.
