Christela is a Fredrick designed Sloop built in 1961 by Woodnutt & Co on the Isle of Wight, UK. She was built to exacting standards using traditional shipwright methods of Honduras Mahogany carvel planking on Oak frames with the the hull 'glass sheathed below waterline. With a traditional long keel and keel hung rudder Christela is extremely sea worthy. Rarely do yachts of such build quality, beauty and personality come on to the market.
She was sailed from the UK to Australia via South Africa, took part in the 1975 Cape Town to Rio Race, then from Rio to the Panama Canal, the Galapagos Islands and across the Pacific.
Her previous owners have all given her the love that she deserves and have maintained her in good order. Her current owner had a new Yanmar 30 HP motor installed 250 hours ago, new standing rigging in 2017, new genoa in 2021, new teak in cockpit and tiller steering installed, a recent new full deck cover as well as regular up-keep and maintenance.
She also comes with a used once 2.5m Aqua Dinghy and an older 3.5hp Tohatsu outboard.
Over recent years she has primarily been used for long weekend cruises of Port Phillip Bay and Twilight Racing; where she often attracts the eye of those traditional boat lovers in her vicinity.
She has undergone refurbishment a number of times over the years and is now presented in a ready to enjoy condition.
