Wonderful one owner, built with precision and care.
Boat No 13 of the Eric de Groot designed and built vessels.
Suitable for blue water cruising with both Australian and State Registration. Due to her well balanced design, "Petra" rides all conditions including rough waters very well with ease and comfort. She has sailed up the Queensland coast as well as around Tasmania and many channels inbetween. "Petra" has also won pursuit races around Bruny Island (Tas).
This boat would make a marvellous family liveaboard cruiser but is also set up for short-handed sailing. It has been well maintained and is easy to keep maintained.
Although 'launched' in 1988, construction was completed and the boat ready to sail in 1996.
The spacious comfortable cockpit is fully encloseable with the solid dodger and full clears in good condition. Features pedestal wheel steering and fold-down timber table with world map inset. Folding davits hold the sailing dinghy and a strong stainless steel swim ladder off the transome.
This wonderful vessel evidences attention to detail throughout which gives this family suited vessel a warm homely feeling, rare to find.
Heading below deck, we first enter into the saloon/galley area. This is very spacious and full of hidden dual purpose innovations. There is a combustion stove with a large woodbox along portside. This not only incorporates hotplates and oven, but also provides heating throughout the boat in the colder climates. There is also a gas stove and gas water heater for when not using the combustion.
The galley also has a double s/s sink, microwave, fridge and an additional fridge/freezer. The L shaped seating at the saloon table seats 4+ with plenty of space to include further seats if required. This area is very light and spacious.
Moving aft from the galley, the master cabin is seperate and comfortable, with a private head and wash basin. There is a full size double bed and ample storage space.
Forward from the saloon are two cabins, seperated by the bathroom. There are two quarter berths, one to port and one starboard, with the port berth being able to fold out to a double bed if required. A further set of bunks are in the focsale.
There is excellent storage throughout, with deep lockers, drawers and cupboards having access through to the sides of the boat. There is further very generous storage under beds, under steps, and behind seats; there is no wasted space.
There is a washer/dryer conveniently placed in the centre cabin beside the galley.
The boat has been trimmed with beautiful timber cabinetry, mostly celery top, with some teak and hardwood. The main hatch over the dining table opens sufficiently to allow for anything, including the engine to fit through should it ever be required. All hatches throughout have been fitted with flyscreens and covers.
The batteries and engine are very easily accessible under saloon/galley floor.
The hydraulic steering is situated in a seat/step at the foot of the master bed and very easily accessible.
Overall this vessel is in great condition and would be a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking for a tested and proven vessel which has genuinely lasted very well the test of time.
