Cavalier 32

The Cavalier 32 enjoyed great success in Half Ton racing throughout the 70's. Peter Smith's own Conquero won the 200 mile South Pacific Half Ton Trophy ocean race, the Leo Bouzaid Memorial 120 mile offshore race in 1974, and sister-ship Petticoats took out the 97 mile offshore race. This brand became a lengend in its own time and till today a sought after vessel for its popular and solid desighn, speed and capabilities to handle rough seas.

Details
"Canta Libre" is a gorgeous Cavalier 975 (32feet) and has recently undergone her annual service including antifoul, propspeed (2023), new cutless bearing (2023), new steering cables and has had her rudder refurbished in April 23. She has been sitting in the river for the past year or so without any use.

She was totally repainted July 2024, Top sides and antyfouling on bottom.

These well-known production boats are popular due to their good sailing performance, seaworthiness and solid construction. A great design for coastal cruising, racers and weekend family cruisers.
All lines except for the 2nd reef come back to the cockpit. Along with lazy jacks ( In the process of replacing with a upgraded version of Lazy Jacks) and a furling jib, this makes her easy to handle for a single sailor or two people. High combing in the cockpit, numerous handholds and easy to reach boom make her a pleasure to sail.

Canta Libre is in excellent condition for a 1979 boat, having had a lot of money spent on her over the last few years to bring her to this condition. Newly painted decks (6 coats of International 2 pac), Recently added was anti-slip paint in a dove grey colour (INTERNATIONAl paint) that make her stand out. She is currently getting upgraded in so many ways as we speak.

The cockpit and interior cushions, wheel cover are all new, and a 9.8 Parsun outboard on the dinghy. Currently the Dodge cover is with the upholsterers to put new Zips. Will come with fresh Sheets, The navigating front lights, as well as back lights replaced as well as rewired. A night light (360 Degrees)with a twilight switch installed. A new Airial for the sound system as well as for the Tv. A brand new 41cm Smart TV installed. A new Blackwater system and incinerator installed as well as a new electric toilet pump.
The whole of the interior is getting revamped and revarnished at this stage. All underfloor areas recoated with a durable white Norhane Finish. The Yacht was cared for which is evident in the overall condition. All Electric wiring re trunked and redone where needed. A 2200kva inverted Generator added to make things even easier.

A new mast was fitted in 2016 and the standing rigging was replaced in 2018 as well. A larger 29hp shaft driven Volvo Penta engine was installed in 2003 (approx 1000hours currently). She purrs like a kitten and just sounds great.
She also comes with a Polycraft dinghy fitted with stability collars.

For the racer, Canta Libre performs excellently as you'd expect from a boat designed by Laurie Davidson. She comes with an extensive sail kit also. See in photo section for list of extra sails.

For the cruiser, she is well equipped for overnights onboard with plenty of headroom, a double dinette berth and 3 additional single berths. She has a good galley with a 2 burner stove with oven/grill, a new 12vdc Freeztec Refridgeration and electric toilet. Currently the Benchtop is getting replaced, and new colourful splashbacks.

The forward bulkhead is positioned further forward giving a much more spacious saloon and the traditional V berth space has been converted for ample storage.

Canta Libre presents great value for money and is available at Rockhampton for inspection.
