Catana 471 Ocean Class

2004 Ocean series 471 Catana 2004 Malikai now for sale. A well-presented example of this renowned performance cruising multihull.
The design has ample bridge deck clearance to avoid underfloor slamming common with most competitor brands. The hulls are high volume giving good performance but more importantly safety. In other words you can if needed push hard.
The Catana 471 is still the benchmark for centreboard cruising multihulls with the boards down, giving her upwind speed and height. Offwind with boards up she tracks safely in a seaway with boat skidding sideways rather than grabbing. Boards up is also a huge advantage in shallow anchorage areas.
Malikai is the 4 cabin, 2 head family version with option to convert to 3 cabin easily.
She has the alloy rig which is more favourable from an insurance perspective.
Fully air-conditioned throughout and loaded with a significant suite of cruising must or want to haves, she is ready for your dream cruise.
Significant features are her Lithium Battery bank, 5KVA Northern Lights Generator, Rocna 40kg anchor, 200L/ hr Watermaker, 3.1m Inflatable and 15hp outboard, Lewmar X3 Windlass
She has just finished our 18 month live aboard adventure for our family of 6. Including 4 adult size kids aged between 14-20.

Remarks
One of the reasons that these boats are still so popular is that they were built to last. The 471/2 was built with two outer hull molds and one deck mold that were vacuum bagged using vinylester resin and cored with PVC closed cell foam with unidirectional cloth for outer laminate & Twaron aramid cloth for inner laminate over the entire hull. The daggerboard trunks were over engineered to be seven times stronger than the daggerboards. All of the structural bulkheads were cored with Nidacore honeycomb core with carbon fiber on both sides.
