Rustic Charm 36 foot, 1980 French Steel Ketch $26000 No offers.
Located at Seaport, Launceston, Tasmania. A recent sale fell through and so I'm keen to off load my first boat and as such I'm selling it very cheaply with the aim of selling it quickly.
She has an almost new 50hp Beta in as new condition (400 hours). Great live aboard boat as she's set up with 240 shore power. For anyone who wants to live on board it's cheap rent at $300 a month in the centre of Launceston.
Rustic Charm hull is sound. Copper Coated Hull (9 years, needs touches up). I'm in the process of painting the deck. Sides need a coat of paint to really bring her up (2 pack). My son had been living on her for the past two years and rather suddenly moved off leaving me with the slip fees. Three years ago I did a Tassie Circumnavigation before my son moved on. I've sailed her to Melbourne about 5 times, Wilson's Prom, Flinders a few times. She sails wonderfully and is easy to single sail. The Genoa is good. Main sail and Mizzen is old but still holding up. Muir windless is about five years old and is a great winch. She has about 70m of 8mm chain (I think). She doesn't have a chart plotter other than an old Garmin at the chart table, but a tablet will get you going. She carries 200 litres of fresh water in two plastic inbuilt food grade tanks and 120 Litres diesel in keel tank and 60 litres in a day tank.
Work needed - both port and starboard windows need fixing as the steel window frames need welding up/replacing. Not a big job. Ultimately the anchor locker lid will need replacing. She also needs a new set of AGM batteries or introduce lithium. She has two banks, and was set up to start the engine on 'house' only with an 'emergency' battery charged with an ACR. I'm painting the deck back to white. The sides need either some polish or a sand and a couple coats of two pack Norglass paint would really make her look good again. Rig is old but in good condition. I've replaced all chain plates with 316ss. Depth, speed and wind. My home made dodger is removable if you don't want it. No life raft or dingy. Comes with davits and two solar panels. All Navigation lights and internal lights are LED (except steaming). Sleeps four in four singles. No mattress for front cabin. 12v Electric toilet to 25 Ltr gravity holding tank, 12v hot water (Diablo). AMSA registered. She comes with a Raymarine Auto Pilot on a tiller with trim tab. This was the original French design and works well. She also has an autohelm windvane that needs tweeking as I can only get it to work in heavy winds. Most of the boat has been rewired with tinned wire and appropriate fuses. Could likely help with delivery to mainland.
