The First Beneteau 45F5 is one of Beneteau's most iconic models. Designed by famous yacht designer Bruce Farr
with the interior and deck layout designed by Ferrari designer Pininfarina and built by Beneteau.
There was 253 of these yachts built between 1990 and 1995 and Flight II was the last one to be built.
She was built and displayed at a yacht expo in France to celebrate the Bi Centennial of 100 years of boat building
by Beneteau, as evident by the sign on the side of the boat in gold leaf. This yacht was originally fitted with all the
options of a racing and cruising boat.
This included a Sparcraft mast and boom, full depth 2.3M full lead keel, all over size and self-tailing Lewmar winches,
all blocks and travellers are Harken and over size. All skin fittings have been faired into the hull to prevent drag.
To celebrate the occasion the hull was finished in a unique blue finish from the factory, the only one of the model to be
produced in this colour.
The interior is still in good condition and is finished in a teak timber finish, it has a factory upgrade of an extra
strengthening rail added to the main bulkhead and some features of the next model to highlight the upgrades for the
next model when on display at the expo.
Starting from the bow of the interior it has a fully enclosed sail locker separated from the main cabin by a waterproof
bulkhead to accommodate wet spinnakers and other sails from the accommodation area in the boat. Then comes the
spacious owners cabin including a shower and toilet ensuite, large double bed and lounge seat area. The saloon is very
large and contains a circular lounge / dining area and galley on the port side, a good size chart table and two roomy double
quarter berths and a shower and toilet head on the port side.
The teak panels in the cockpit and aft sections of the boat were replaced about three years ago and have new cushions for
all seats. The transom has a fold out swim platform fitted with teak highlights and a removable ladder.
This yacht has been very recently lifted out of the water, antifouled and polished.
Flight II is also an Australian International Registered Ship and ready to cruise the world....
