Description: Alan Payne Custom Designed Centreboard Yacht
Imagine yourself enjoying a beverage in the cockpit of Timshel, while in a secluded anchorage somewhere around the world.... It could be you!
This beautifully handcrafted custom Alan Payne designed steel yacht is constructed for ocean sailing. She was built with a centreboard to cruise the French Canals (which she did), and has completed a circumnavigation. See the photo of her journey around the world.
This gorgeous lady is 47ft 10in, with a beam of 14ft 10in, making her incredibly comfortable to sail on and live on board. Additionally, her draft is 4.6ft (8.6ft with the centerboard down) meaning she can easily navigate into shallow anchorages where most other vessels of her size can not.
Timshel is powered by a 37hp Yanmar 3TE engine (hours 6655.6) with manual transmission, and was recently serviced and overhauled on 23 July 2024. The gearbox operates on a 3:1 reduction, throwing a 28 inch x 19 inch propeller. When sailing, the propeller shaft can be disconnected from the engine allowing for the propellor to turn freely and reduce any drag. Additionally, this enables power to be generated off the propellor shaft using an alternator to charge batteries while sailing.
Timshel is perfect for a couple, a family, or groups of friends. She has a main cabin with double bed, a forepeak with two singles in a v shape (which could be converted into a double), a settee which can be made into a 3/4 berth (see video), as well as the dinette which can be lowered and made into a double bed. In total, she can sleep up to 8 people.
She is well equipped with a Yawl rig and a full set of sails. She has a main sail, mizzen, full set of jibs and storm jibs, as well as a spinnaker. Some of the sails are new. Included in the sale are lines, blocks, fenders, tender, outboard, anchors, chain, spinnaker poles, and the list goes on.
While she has some electrics on board including a Furuno radar, GPS, and depth sounder, you may wish to purchase a brand and type which suits your preference. There are two solar panels which are set up to charge the batteries and it is possible to opperate her on a set of four batteries (2 x 'house' batteries, and 2 x engine batteries - these are harnessed together to create 24v).
Timshel has recently ungone the following maintenance on the 19 Jul 2024: Antifoul, paint work touchups, engine overhaul and service (see video).
Timshel is on the Australian Register of Ships, and currently holds Qld registration.
