The Whittley CR 2800 is an excellent family cruiser, with a very capable sea going hull and all the modern conveniences to boot. Whether you are fishing, cruising or skiing, the Whittley 2800 is the best all-rounder on the market today and is still legally trailerable!

Our Whittley has been meticulously maintained and upgraded so that it is ready to step aboard and go cruising - there's no outstanding work to get in the way of your enjoyment!

The highlights include:
*Whittley CR2800 Hardtop 2009 - no leaking canvas biminis
*Volvo 5.7 Litre V8 MPI 320HP V8 (330 hrs) with risers and manifolds replaced just 2 years ago
*Volvo twin counter rotating propeller drives (Duoprop), 2 Stainless steel propellers (we use the boat at least every 2 weeks in order to ensure that everything is kept moving. Being left idle for weeks and months on end is the biggest enemy of a boat)

So what are your concerns? We transitioned from a yacht to the cruiser, so let me tell you what we found:

* The hard top is a major blessing - no matter what the weather, if you close the sunroof and zip down the rear clears, the Whittley is completely watertight - no drips or leaks anywhere
* Fuel usage - didn't end up being a major concern. At 3000rpm you'll cruise at 20kts and use 28 litres/hour. In a typical day out on the water you'll use less than 40 litres.
* Driving and manouvering - if you're changing from a yacht its a bit different, as there's no keel! You need to have power on in order to steer - very much like driving a car. Once you get the idea that it is like driving a car, its an easy boat to handle.
* Relaxing space - the big rear platform is excellent and fully railed, so if you have kids its great. The lounge area converts to a near-queen bed but also easily seats 6, with ready access to the fridge and cocktail cabinet :)
* Whittley is still an active boat builder in Australia - it has facilities in Rozelle and Newcastle and offers genuine parts and service as well as very knowledgeable staff, many of whom have been around for years. They are more than happy to take inquiries and assist.
* The Whittley Club is an active association of Whittley owners. They run club trips to lots of destinations and are a great source on hands-on information and advice.
* The boat is currently moored at Apple Tree Bay at Bobbin Head. Apple Tree Bay is a beautiful spot, giving easy access to the Hawkesbury and Pittwater. A new owner will be able to take over the mooring lease if desired (it is operated through the Apple Tree Bay Boating Association).
* If desired, the Whittley can be put on a trailer and towed - but you'll need a Ram or V8 Landcruiser - its heavy!. Many members of the Whittley Club do just that. We don't have a trailer but they can be bought new for about $17,000 - a few can be found secondhand.

Why are we selling?
Two grandchildren in the USA and another who lives with us. Simply, we just can't find the time to use the boat to the extent we'd like to.
