This Seaquest 3600 has had no expense spared with many upgrades by the current and previous owners. The current owner does mostly solo voyaging and so needs to make sure that everything works.... Which it does. "I'm a solo sailor, so breaking down was not an option so everything was replaced".
The Seaquest 3600 Sports Bridge is designed and built by Seaquest Boats in Brisbane. Seaquest was made famous with their 3000 boat which the 3600 draws inspiration from.
While the moulded hull length is 10.98m, the length overall is a 12.70m thanks to a big marlin board which extends from the transom. And with a beam of 3.40m, the SeaQuest 3600 has ample on-board living and cockpit space.
Most Australian boaters are familiar with the flybridge layout. The Sports Bridge layout is different in that it has an elevated helm station with a transverse bunk underneath. As well as offering two big sleeping cabins, the hull lines remain well proportioned. The helm station is clean and tidy. A bench seat flanks the pedestal helm seat. The clip-in carpet in the aft cockpit softens the impact of the white gelcoat.
Here's a nifty trick: at the flick of a button, the cockpit floor lifts on hydraulic rams to give access to the engine room. Dual diesel sterndrive engines are installed alongside one another, while a MASE generator set, hot water system, fuel tank and ancillary gear is all contained in the engine room.
The cockpit, aft of the helm station, has room for a table and deckchairs, and a sun lounge or two. There's an outdoor galley with sink, icebox and freezer.
There's more storage in the transom, which features a hinged boot opening to a storage bin that can be used for a rolled up inflatable or an outboard.
Moving into the cabin area, boaters step down a set of curved steps to enter the galley, where they'll find a fridge, microwave, electric cooktop and so on. To starboard is a dining table and flush settee. Forward of the settee is a double berth with flat screen TV, speakers and personal lighting.
The master cabin, underneath the helm station, is fitted with a double bed.
"This is a true family boat than can go to sea for many days at a time, " says John Young of SeaQuest Boat Sales.
"With lots of storage on board for food and drinks, a 300L water tank and 900L fuel tank, the 3600 gives boating families enormous flexibility to stay at sea for an extended period. "
