This will not be available until after Xmas 2024 with the current owners undertaking their last stay onboard over the Xmas break. Viewing can be arranged for those that are interested in a boat of this calibre by contacting the SMS team.
A Malcolm Tennant designed power cat El Gato is a truely awesome boat that will allow your family to take on the Australian coastline in anyway you desire. The Kimberley's, Rowley Shoals or just swinging off your favourite mooring at beautiful Rottnest Island. The size, flexibility of the design and available space on offer with El Gato will not be found on many other boats available in this class here in WA. A outstanding opportunity presents itself for you today !
Twin teak finished swim platforms make a fantastic entrance onto the back of the boat leading into custom made stainless steel transom gates at the top of the two small stairs leading into an expansive teak finished Cockpit with a full custom transom fitted with a Furgeson custom SS gas BBQ, bait tanks and ice boxes. An additional toilet and shower has been installed to the Stb side with a washer and dryer room mirroring the toilet to Port which is where you will find the 240 Lt water maker main panel. A great use of space without eating into the available Cockpit space. You have room here for a long table lunch with 12 of your closets friends or all the room you could need for the fisherman, diver or a fleet of paddle boards for the run to the beach. A large GRP overhead awning will offer protection to most of the Cockpit to keep the WA sun at bay and with additional breezeways installed could be the place to be on a perfect Rotto day. A number of access points are available through the Cockpit deck allowing access to the engine bays, genset bay and general storage points for all those important boating items.
Finished in Black butt timber flooring the Saloon is an open plan design with an aft galley dressed in a light beech style timber for a very modern look. Westinghouse upright fridge / freezer, Westinghouse gas oven with stove and Sharp microwave will have the family and visitors well and truely looked after on a long trip North. A large dinette to the Starboard side with stainless legs and a heavy custom finished tinted glass table mirrored by a smaller version to the Port side all with custom leather lounges installed and both easily removable for direct access to either engine when not heading through the aft hatch. Servicing is a breeze, your tech will be very happy ! Headroom here is suitable for Luke Longley with enough beam in the Saloon for the Wallabies front row to pack down ! This is a high volume boat and would suit a live aboard situation as much as it would a long range cruising boat.
Two cabins are available off the front of the Saloon with a queen sized master berth to the Starboard side with a shared ensuite to the Port side triple bunk room. Excellent ventilation available through windows and an AC for those calm hot WA nights. When additional visitors join you onboard the Fly Bridge lounge converts to a double berth allowing 7 pax to sleep in their own beds. This is when the second toilet shower will be very welcome.
As far as vision from the helm is concerned I doubt you could expect any more than what is on offer. Make your way up the Teak and Stainless Steel Fly Bridge ladder, along the rear mezzanine lounge with seating for at least 8, past the custom rear rod locker through the aft Fly Bridge door and a huge Fly Bridge opens up before you, vision in all directions in almost all conditions makes for a safe passage in heavy seas. Wide and offering plenty of head room the Starboard side wet bar with sink and Ice maker will keep the skippers thirst at bay with the crew taking up residence on one of two lounges available either side of the Blackbutt finished floors. This is a unique boat in all aspects. A concise functional helm forward installation has all you need right at hand with Sounder. GPS and rear camera. A sensational helm chair and oversized Stainless Steel helm wheel gives you the fell of a much larger boat. This is a joy to control with its wide beam and bow thruster getting her around the marina does not pose any issues.
Powered by a pair of Cat 3116, diesel powered shaft driven engines with brand new VEEM props fitted on the 28 / 10 / 2024 allowing a wide open run at 15 knots with an all day cruise at 9-12 knots with the current owners sitting on 11 knots in most conditions heading between Perth and Mandurah. Both engines had an out of boat rebuild undertaken 458 hours ago by the last owners. A new Kholer genset currently showing 5 hours was installed just prior to the current owners purchase. There really is nothing required to just head out and enjoy the boat. All annuals are up to date including a new set of coolers installed in Aug this year.
El Gato is an outstanding family boat for the WA region that will if you are looking for a little more adventure take you North or South with confidence while also being an ideal live aboard package for those looking for a sea change with a difference.
