First launched in 1983 to support Australia II in Alan Bond's successful America's Cup challenge, this historic vessel has traversed the world's oceans and proven itself a true offshore explorer. The vessel was expertly constructed in Brisbane by Lloyd's Ships, to a Jack Hargrave design. In 2003, the vessel had a significant refit and extension, including the addition of a fully enclosed flybridge deck and wheelhouse, aft hull extension to include the sportfishing deck & swim platform, installation of new CAT 3412E main engines, and extensive upgrades to the engineering and electrical systems. In 2017, the vessel was refit & re-sprayed by then custodians and original builders, Lloyds Ships.

ACCOMMODATION
You and your guests will be able to enjoy long trips at sea in absolute comfort, with guest accommodation across 3 spacious cabins, each with their own en suite. The companionway is easily accessed via stairs adjacent to the formal dining. You will be impressed when stepping into the luxurious full-beam master stateroom situated amidship. An owner's stateroom needs to tick a lot of boxes, and nothing was missed in this case. Featuring a king bed, his and hers hanging storage, a walk-in robe, office workspace, new 55" Smart TV, lounge and en suite with marble bench tops, flooring, a spa bath and heated towel rail!
The VIP cabin is nicely appointed with a queen bed, wardrobe, 32" TV and en suite. Cabin 3 features the same layout, however with twin single beds. Both en suites feature marble benches & flooring with a southern cross inlay, heated towel rails, toilets and shower recess. The crew quarters are also comfortable and generously sized, so additional guests or kids are likely to find themselves in the forward accommodation. Accessed via the forward stairs in the library, a decent mess lounge comprises of an L-shaped sofa, folding dinette table, fridge and TV, with 3 separate cabins and 1 bathroom branching off from the companionway. 4 bunks can be found here, additionally the sofa looks to be quite inviting!
MAIN DECK
The main deck aft simply invites entertaining at all hours of the day, with seating for at least 12 around the two dinettes. The sunroom is fully air-conditioned and has sliding windows for natural airflow, suiting all weather conditions. A coffee station and bar fridge are situated to starboard and the teak decking underfoot is in great condition.
Southern Cross' saloon and formal dining is probably the most stunning feature of the vessel when you first step aboard. Step through the threshold and you are greeted with hand-crafted timber cabinetry and furniture, soft leather sofas, plush carpet, Versace light fittings and soft furnishings, plus an impressive 8-seat formal dining table and buffet, full of original bone china still in its bubble-wrap. Moving forward, the chef's galley is completely decked out with new appliances and ample storage. The vessel's day head is accessible via the starboard side deck and the main companionway opposite the galley. Where the original wheelhouse once stood, an inviting library/office space has been created. A Chesterfield sofa (cleverly raised so you can see over the dash) invites passengers to sink into it whilst they gaze at their destination on the horizon.
Externally, the aft cockpit is where the real adventure begins. A fighting chair is mounted to the lower cockpit, set up to tackle the biggest pelagics. Two stainless BBQ's are fitted and the walkthrough transom door opens up to an expansive solid swim platform. All teak decking is in great condition. Walking up to the bow, you will find upholstered sunpad cushions which lift up to reveal the all-important jacuzzi!
BRIDGE DECK
The equally impressive enclosed flybridge deck comprises the ship's sole wheelhouse, with wing stations either side, commercial Furuno electronics and two helm seats with navigation table. The bridge deck lounge can be partitioned off and provides guests with a truly relaxing place to retreat. Two sofas, a TV, U-tec fridges and a galley sink make this a totally independent living area.
The external aft deck is also a lovely place to watch the sunset, with a few rocking armchairs to put you at ease. The 4m RIB tender & jetski are deployed easily with the HIAB crane, creating even further viewing deck space once launched.
ENGINEERING
Southern Cross II has excellent mechanical standards and the engine room presents neat and tidy. The CAT 3412,1400HP mains are a desirable engine package and are well-suited to the vessel's hull characteristics. With under 3600 hours from install, these CATs will get you wherever you intend on cruising for years to come.
Accessing the engine room is easy via the aft deck watertight hinged door. Stepping down into the utility space, there is ample storage for spares and tools. Twin Perkins 40kva gensets ensure total redundancy should one fail on a long voyage. Vessel stabilisation is provided by Naiad fin stabilisers. All additional engineering and equipment is in good working order and presents well.
