Description: Greenline 40 - Twin diesel, solar, lithium, two cabins
It is refreshing to again step onboard a brand of luxury pleasure boat who have pioneered boating with not only their clever layout but more importantly, their economy and efficiency, and this is where Greenline are ahead of their time in the power boat world.
Over fifty now delivered in Australia, more recently two brand new Greenline 40 and 45's pre-sold have just arrived in the west.
This 40 was delivered new into WA in late 2013. I image she was one of the very first Lithium battery powered boats in the WA. Usually pleasure boats of this size are fitted with high horsepower engines and gensets to match. The Greenline 40 however follows the theme of most of the Eyachts imported brands, that being - sustainability combined with efficiency.
For those wanting a two cabin non flybridge luxury pleasureboat with a very flexible accommodation layout then the Greenline 40 is a stand out. Her main living area is one level from the helm right through to the drop down transom. Large windows provide excellent viewing while seated inside the saloon. A hopper style rear window connects the galley with the rear deck and offers breakfast bar. Basically whether you are inside the cabin or out on deck there is no question you are out on the water!
Each of the two accommodation cabins feature berths which easily convert from twin singles to queens. Very rare to find his in any boat of this size.
The accommodation however is not the only unique quality of the Greenline. Under the bonnet she is powered by twin VW diesel shaft drive engines. Probably not something most-of you would have heard of before but these engines are very common in Europe. The twin 150HP engines power this remarkably efficient hull through the water at sprint speeds up to 20 knots making for an incredible 14 to 16 knot cruise. And with diesel prices soaring, I expect more and more self funded boat owners will become very conscious of when it comes to fuel burn. I was impressed at how well the Greenline 40 slipped through the water with such small engines. I was also surprised at just how quiet she was at full steam.
You can always gauge an efficient hull by the amount of water she displaces when underway. Check out the video when she is cruising both at low speed through the Mandurah canals and cruising off Port Bouvard, very low wash from her bow.
All of the domestic electrical systems onboard are 240V however there is no generator. This means two things, one less engine to service and maintain, and no engine noise when boiling the kettle. When you wake up in the morning you can turn on the coffee machine without waiting up the crew! Everything runs via an inverter which converts DC current to 240V AC current through the 240 amp hour lithium storage bank. 1400 watt factory fitted flush mount solar panels replenish the batteries by day and the main engines top them up if required when underway. Being lithium, they charge up in no time. If you are into long range cruising then you are already well aware of the benefits of this style of energy generation system. All of this technology can be simply managed via an Ipad included in the package.
Asking around half her replacement cost and about half the age of most of the boats for sale in WA around this size, she represents excellent value for money for a two cabin one bathroom boat and including cutting edge technology.
