Greenline 40 Hybrid

ROMAN is a current shape GREENLINE 40 twin 5 cylinder turbo diesel hybrid flagship ordered new fully optioned and is featured in numerous Greenline 40 hybrid articles. Replacement NEW cost in 2025 is in the order of $1.4m with similar options.

The last Greenline 40 of similar age and propulsion sold recently in Perth via Boatsonline for $489,000. That vessel had about $60k less navionics and comfort options than ROMAN. ROMAN has 618 hours on the engines which were serviced at 600 hours. I would suggest that up to 120 of those hours recorded would be in Electric H drive with the diesel engines turned off.

A comprehensive 500hr service included reconfiguring the H Drive with a new Victron 5,000watt inverter, 10KwHrs of 240 volt storage, 15KwHrs of 12 volt storage, 5Kva diesel battery re-generation and 1.8Kw P. V. Generation. The last owner considered the 2 electric motors to be economically prodigeous with 5 knots and a range of 8 miles deemed unsafe / inapropriate use of P. V. Storage on Sydney Harbour and thus during the 500 hr service had Victron engineers disconnected the H drive power cable and replaced the 4 original failing 10 year old 4 x 5 KwHr batteries with 2 x 5 KwHr new Victon units. Another 2 batteries costing about $2,400 each could be installed allowing the vessel to travel about 8 to 10 nautical miles under battery power at 5 knots before the batteries need recharging.

Both 7Kw electric motors become 5Kva dynamo / gen sets when the diesel engines are running. I too have considered the H drive system uneconomical and overtaxing on the vessel's system's electrical storage potential considering at 5 knots the super quiet 5 cylinder diesel engines consume 2 litres per hour each. ( 3.5 litres per hour each @ 7 knots. With 19 knots being aproximate WOT consuming 55 litrs per hour. 14 to 15 knots being in the order of 40 litres per hour. )

The 6 x 300 watt solar panels manage to 100% recharge the extant batteries at least 330 days per year on the Gold Coast and I've never seen the touch screen readout show less than 60% at sunrise after the darkest and rainiest of weeks. The H drive system is all there if the new owner wishes to re-connect the main cable and add 2 more Victron 25.6v 200 AHr batteries.

All beds have mattress toppers and the toilet has fresh water bidet function. Both TVs have DVD player function. All A/C units have dehumidifier and reverse cycle functions. The white carpet in the Salon was upgraded to a teak look finish treatments the week prior to listing, and the Bulwark caps were sanded and given 6 coats of premium grade marine varnish. Hull antifoul and props/rudders/trim tabs propspeed has been carried out annually and will be completed Ist week of February 2025 with Jotun 2 year self ablating black and propspeed treatments.

The price will include slipping Jan 31st 2025 for a week when all out of water servicing will take place. The price will include a new takacat tender which is vacuum stored in the starboard cockpit hatch with an electic drive setup plus signifacant accessories which includes a portable 3 kva gen set as a 3rd redundancy plus beach use. All Diesel/electric servicing was carried out November 2024. It was last slipped 19 December 2023. To fully appreciate ROMAN, inspection and sea trial from our home jetty is a must.
