$150,000 recently spent on engine, eletronics, and hull integrity osmosis proofing upgrades, major servicing and Victron reconfiguration to assure ROMAN remains in tip top condition for decades to come. A similarly optioned New GL40 AT $1.5M costing over a million dollars more than ROMAN.
ROMAN is a classic Halverson-esque, very pleasing to the eye 40 foot planing salon motor yacht with a very stable 14ft beam and a very slippery fuel saving innovative hull design returning brilliant displacement speed fuel burn figures.
Greenline's headquarters are in the UK, manufactured by SVP Yachts whose headquarters are in Fidenza Parma Italy with a reputation for building high end luxury yachts.
Bow & stern thruster optioned. Electric sunroof, and bow double sun bed optioned, Full stem to stern teak option. Autopilot with hand held portable remote control, 3D plotter, navionics top options. Tropical pack option, in fact every option exept the rear davits as the 2.5m tender stows in the starboard cockpit hatch.
Brand new cockpit stowed vacuum bagged ultra lightweight (18kg) tender with electric drive. Spare portable 3kva Genset for shore use and 3rd redundancy P. V. Backup
Halogen cooktops with microwave and convection oven. 2 generous sized double cabins with double bed and single bed slide configuration sleeps 4.
The 6 person table in the salon folds down to accommadate an extra 2 guests sleeping a maximum of 6 in comfort inside.
Large 2 way bathroom facilities boasting a large clear partitioned shower, vanity unit with large porcelain bowl and 2 way fresh water bidet toiled with raw water flush.
A second hot and cold water shower retracts into the cockpit near the fold down stern tailgate system.
3 ZONE A/C running from 2 seperate A/C units all with heating, cooling and dehumidifying options.
Large 6ft upright 240v 2 door fridge freezer and literally dozens of storgage cupboards and cabinets.
Mirrored glass clear door wine and glass keep was chosen as the preferred option when new instead of the dishwasher option.

6 x deepcycle 12v 200Ah house & engine batteries 2 x 25.6v 400 Ah LiFePo4 Victron batteries provide storage via solar system and dynamos giving an approximate aggregate of 25KwHrs onboard electrical reserve. Approximately 15% of which is drawn down every night to power the fridge freezer, hot water, and keeping the 6 12v deep cycle batteries 100% charged at all times.
Displacement cruise speed of 7 knots consumes a meager 6 litres per hour. 4.5knots = 2.5Lt/Hr
She planes at 10 knots at around 30 Lt/Hr. 14 knots = 40 Lt/Hr
WOT= 19Knots @ 55Lt/Hr
Engines out for a Major service mid 2023 ($20k)
Complete Victron system upgrade late 2023 ($23K)
Slipped annually. Most recent slip was this 31st Jan 2025 to 7 Feb 2025.( scheduled annual service $5.6k)
Mid Guage reading levels of humidity were detected in the outer hull gel coat during this most recent scheduled service and the start of minor delamination dimpling observed near the port stabliser skeg and the Bow thruster. The hull had sustained a light and very shallow sharp 5 ft graze to the bow below the waterline leaving a stripe cut in the thin half a mm thick bow gel coat by an undetected sharp object in opaque esturine waters allowing water to start tracking between gel coat and the hand laid fibreglass resin interface giving higher than normal humidity readings without much in the way of obvious gel coat delamination. Stripping and repairing the effected 2 square metre area for a few thousand dollars whilst on hard stand would have corrected the problem but was not considered appropriate considering the vessel's value.
The vessel is being re slipped in May for a 10 week comprehensive gel coat removal and a much thicker durable replacement hull system laminated onto the fibreglass hull at a cost of $55,000 to me. The inner hull humidity readings are perfectly normal which reflects Greenlines guarantee of its manufacturing vacuum bag hand laid fibreglass sheathing process which boasts the use of osmosis proof resins on its web page.
I'd set Roman's price at $439,000 prior to this surprise discovery of hull humidity and have had to put the price up to $20k to offset the extra $70k worth of improvements scheduled for late May to July when the vessel will be stronger and more durable than a New Greenline hull due to the new 5mm polyvinyl resin layers replacing the very thin half a mm gel coat hull protection layer.
Minor dimpling was apparent in less than 2m2 of 45.5m2 antifoul applied hull area, it's deemed best practice moving forward to remove the entire hull gel coat which is less than 1mm thick overall when tested and apply this vastly stronger more durable 5mm thick waterproofing system, then apply the correct 3 isolator and barrier coats prior to 2 roller coats of Jotun seamaster40 antifoul.
New propspeed, all 12 hull raw water cocks, shafts, skeg bearings and watercooled seals and props will be serviced during the 10 week hull upgrade. ($12k)
We suspect the incorrect barrier, primer and sealer pre antifoul coats were not correctly applied when new causing premature failure of the gel coat.
This will mean ROMAN will have had all mechanical, electrical and structural upgrades to the tune of $125,000 in the past 2 services ( 100hrs ) which will value ROMAN at 50% of a new Greenline 40 with every option, which ROMAN has being Greenline Australia's first Greenline 40 Flagship to be imported to Australia in 2012.
Interior and the full teak option is immaculate also. ROMAN can be viewed on our backyard Private Jetty in Commera Waters for the next 10 weeks prior to being shedded at the Coomera Boatworks for its major Hull waterproofing upgrade which I've already committed to with a deposit to assure a timeslot.
Photos of this weeks slip available upon request. Any test, survey and sea trial welcome.
