Easting Down is a substantial 59' loa Expedition Yacht. Cruised Tasmanian waters for the last 12 years, where she is currently lying.
She was launched in 2009, built from prime coated BHP Australian Steel and weighing in at 54 tonnes dry ship and over 70 tonnes loaded ready for travel.
This Fiddler designed hull was created from the lines of large commercial fishing vessels incorporating big beam and large carrying capacity.
She is very heavily constructed and fully insulated and is as sound as the day it was launched. Full photo documentation included of the build and the original survey documents on completion. Maintained to a high standard since by one owner.
Basic dimensions are: 59' Length x 19' Beam x 6' Depth. She has huge volumes that create large and comfortable living spaces. With three large double cabins, all with walk around beds. Three toilets incorporating one large 800 litre holding tank, two bathrooms, household washer and dryer. New Guinea Rosewood professional fitout. Large leather lounges. Well laid out bridge including dining table for six and a reclining leather chair for off-watch crew. Modern fully equipped galley with solid stone bench tops, with household fridge, microwave and oven. A separate freezer in a large aft lazarette with huge storage capacity. Electric heating and ducted 5KW diesel heating.
Weather proof rear cockpit with comfortable seating for six. Large swim board for easy dinghy access. Two deck cranes 400kg and 200kg for dinghy stowage.
Designed for long distance travel with safety, reliability, economy and huge range. The current fuel capacity of over 10,000 litres feeding the ever reliable Gardner 6LXB main engine, coupled to a hydraulic 4/1 reduction gearbox consumes one litre per mile. Records over 12 years use can substantiate this while cruising at over 8 knots at a modest 1,200 rpm. Main engine and 15 KVA genset, both fitted with dry exhausts and keel cooling for absolute simplicity and minimum maintenance. With 6,000 litres of fresh water and being able to collect water from the upper deck can keep you at sea for long periods. Perfect for long voyages for the adventuresome families. Plenty of spares with very simple systems, all easily serviceable requiring only basic knowledge. Over 2 KVA of dual battery banks with dual inverters and AC and DC charging systems, all duplicated give reliability and peace of mind. No computers needed to keep this vessel running. All tools included. Recently slipped and fully painted using only quality two pack paints.
The replacement of this vessel today would be in excess of $2.5 million.
