Custom 9.5m Sedan/Down East Style Motor Cruiser

"Hannibal" is a great example of a practical, thoughtful classic timber motor vessel that has been designed for fishing and leisure. With its sleek lobster-style design and practical functionality, Hannibal presents a versatile and capable package. A host of recent upgrades throughout elevate the usability and functionality, with a NEW and rebuilt transom, 270hp Mercury V6 Diesel and Bravo 3 stern drive leg, plus an array of the latest electronics that bring Hannibal into this current era of boating. Built in 1971 by Mike Wright in South Australia for Bass Straight Fishing, it was then sold to a new owner in St Helens, TAS, then after a lengthy stint, Hannibal was sold to Lindsay Doyle in 2020 who began works to completely rebuild and restore the boat, being re-launched in 2021 after its completion by the renowned professional shipwright Dean Marks.

Hannibal's cockpit is expansive and features a spacious open deck, which provides ample room for fishing and activities, benefited by additional stainless-steel railings atop the thick gunwales. This area is thoughtfully equipped with plenty of storage and rod holders making it ideal for fishing enthusiasts. Sitting centrally in the cockpit is a large electric MUIR pot hauler and pedestal, complemented by a wide gunwale with thick S/S capping for Cray Pot haulage.

A large wet well sits in the forward-most compartment in the cockpit, while you will find an electrical compartment behind, but in front of the large and uncluttered engine room. The largest and most notable upgrade to Hannibal is its NEW 2021 Mercury 270hp V6 Diesel engine with Bravo 3 stern drive leg, providing reliable and easy power to the boat. The engine room is well-finished as is the rest of the vessel, with excellent sound deadening and plenty of uncluttered space for easy maintenance, additional upgrades or storage.

One of two helm stations are found in the cockpit to the port side, where the new powerplant is made apparent also. With new digital Mercury gauges, Mercury throttle and a 12-inch Lowrance HDS LIVE plotter/sounder, this helm station is excellently executed and positioned with great visibility. Adjacent and to the starboard side is a head with electric toilet. Forward of the helm and within the companionway that ultimately leads into the cabin, sits a galley with a large stainless-steel sink.

The cabin itself reveals a cozy and functional layout that complements its exterior well. The internal helm station that sits to port features a well-organised dashboard with upgraded navigational equipment similar to that on the cockpit station, but with the addition of a Koden CV5832 Sounder, Navionics plotter on a smart tablet and Uniden VHF radio, combining to make Hannibal a very capable vessel. Adjacent to the helm and to starboard is a deep settee that offers a space for relaxation. A large and spacious V-berth occupies the interior forepeak, providing comfortable accommodation for two.

Hannibal combines traditional craftsmanship with modern convenience and capability, making it a reliable and charming vessel perfectly suited for fishing trips and leisurely adventures. With a range of big-ticket upgrades and a great deal of craftsmanship, as well as its recently completed out-of-water annual maintenance including new antifouling, Propspeed and stern drive leg service with a recent survey completed in advance, Hannibal is ready to be enjoyed for many, many years to come.
