Classic Craft Custom Day Launch

Offered for sale for the first time in over 3 decades Gowrie is one of the oldest and most exceptional timber boats on the Gippsland Lakes (presently berthed in Metung). Designed and constructed as a pleasure vessel in 1902 by Shipwright Peter Tierney of Paynesville, Gowrie is a truly unique vessel.

Her graceful, sweeping lines and low-slung counter stern distinguish her from the many converted work/fishing boats comprising today's traditional timber pleasure boat fleet. Few other vessels of this vintage have survived the intervening 122 years - even fewer are in the condition of this beautifully preserved historical boat.

Gowrie is presented in excellent, ready-to-cruise condition, having undergone a major refresh and overhaul in February this year. Her spacious (16') cockpit and broad side-decks make her an ideal day-boat for entertaining. The compact Volvo-Penta powerplant offers superb reliability as Gowrie slips gracefully through the water with a comforting thrum. The side-decks are easily walked around and provide abundant seating without the need for additional fittings or furniture.

Gowrie underwent full restoration in 1997, retaining her original hull of New Zealand Kauri. All works were completed by Master Shipwright Richard Blake of Blake's Shipwrights and included complete re-ribbing of steamed blue-gum, a full laid deck of Queensland Beech, coaming board of King Billy pine, new deck and floor beams throughout and a new power-plant. She is a tribute to the tradition of timber boating craftsmanship and style.

Gowrie has been thoroughly loved and meticulously cared for by her current owners for almost 35 years but now seeks a new guardian to navigate the next chapter of her history, as she continues to turn heads wherever she goes on the water.
