With the renowned precision, performance, and fishability that the Cabo brand is celebrated for 'Chainsaw' is designed and was built to meet the demands of the most discerning anglers. She is a proven sportfishing platform with the impressive equipment levels to match. Importantly she was built as a 240v 50htz vessel (being the same voltage as Australia) and originally delivered to Europe from where Alexander Marine assisted with her importation from the south of France down to Australia for her current owner.
The Cabo 52 Express is characterised by its impressive speed and wave eating performance, even in the most challenging sea states, thanks to her renowned naval architect Michael Peters hull. It remains remarkably dry, and its aft weight distribution enhances balance and ride quality in rough weather. The exceptional performance and capability of 'Chainsaw' lets you to reach remote fishing grounds, more often, comfortably and quickly.
Her spacious cockpit is meticulously designed with the passionate angler in mind. It features a professional bait prep centre, ample tackle storage, a 75-gallon bait well integrated into the transom and generously sized insulated fish boxes (with the starboard fish box being plumbed to the onboard Eskimo ice chipper to keep you catch cold). As with all Cabo Yachts, the 52 Express includes an aluminium reinforcement plate in the cockpit sole for mounting a game chair if you are into heavy tackle. Gaff and tag pole holders are conveniently positioned under the gunnels, and the combing is complete with six recessed rod holders. A rocket launcher across the tower cross-beam, plus additional rod holders on the tower legs, provide even more storage location for rods within easy reach of the action. The cockpit fishing space is further enhanced by self-draining cockpit scuppers, a transom gate, an outward opening "tuna door" with robust custom hinges, and freshwater and saltwater wash-down outlets.
The helm deck of the 52 Express features a centreline gloss teak varnished "Palm Beach" style helm pod that offers the captain a clear view in all directions that is weather-protected via the custom hardtop and four-sided clears. In addition to the lower helm the outlook from the elevated Black Marlin tower helm station is spectacular and is very handy when anchoring in and around the reef and for unparalleled visibility when trolling or looking for bird life.
The main helm station features late-model Furuno navigation equipment including triple 18" Furuno touch screen MFD's, GPS plotter, sounder, open array radar, autopilot and a Furuno VHF. A FLIR thermal night vision camera adds an extra layer of safety and visibility in low-light or nighttime conditions. The gloss-varnished Palm Beach style helm pod features single-lever electronic controls for ease of facing aft and backing down on a fish. Up in the tower you are greeted with dual 16" Furuno MFD's, Furuno autopilot controls, and an Icom VHF radio. Analogue Caterpillar gauges are a nice touch on the lower helm pod, with the familiar Caterpillar digital instrumentation mounted overhead on the hardtop for additional digital engine data.
Back down at the main helm three comfortable adjustable Stidd helm seats, including footrests, make for a great vantage point as the captain and any guests reel in the miles. Additional lockable storage for tackle and accessories is built-in beneath the L-shaped lounge to port which is seat around a large table as is a great location from which to enjoy a meal while still having a great view out to whatever action is taking place in the cockpit or in the water behind the vessel.
'Chainsaw' was fitted with a custom Black Marlin Tower by the current owner for unparalleled visibility, including a set off big Reelax outriggers. The custom hardtop and tower combination includes plenty of LED mood and flood lighting for after hours activities - be that fishing or socialising.
Down below the cabin and accommodation area is spacious and functional. The main living area features a large L-shaped lounge around a table, and a well-appointed galley with plenty of bench space. In terms of accommodation she is a two cabin layout with the forward master cabin featuring an island double bed. A private head with a separate shower stall completes the owner's accommodations. The portside guest cabin offers over and under single berths, and utilises the spacious wet head that is located immediately to starboard as you arrive down into the cabin area, this well-positioned location makes it particularly handy and easily accessible to the helm.
She is Caterpillar C32 Powered for amazing performance & reliability, and her amazing hull form is complimented by a Seakeeper Gyro and Humphree Interceptors for the best possible blue water experience. Twin generators provide essential redundancy to undertake remote expeditions.
