I wish I was the agent for the Caribbean Bertram boats in the day. It amazes me just how many there are here in the West, such a popular brand and model.
I wonder how many families have enjoyed this one over the years. This vessel is well equipped for comfortable stays afloat. Featuring two cabins plus overflow accommodation for up to 9 in total - potentially two families. There is a large master cabin and ensuite with shower stall, guest bathroom and forward accommodation with three tournament bunk beds. The saloon dining and lounge cleverly convert to sleep a further four if required.
There are no tight spaces on the Caribbean 42, cabins are large, their galley the biggest in their class and her massive beam and large opening windows make the saloon feel enormous.
Double opening powder coated aluminium sliding doors join saloon to entertainment deck - this is where it all happens. A teak laid cockpit floor, varnished outdoor table and a chest eutectic fridge have everything just where you want them. The transom swings open onto a massive swimboard featuring an SS safety rail. A canvas awning keeps the sun out and also houses one of two tender storage areas.
A ladder to starboard of the cockpit invites you upstairs to the flybridge helm. This features bucket seats for captain and co-pilot plus room for another handful of friends. A well structured fibreglass hardtop supports the flexible clear wind screens and provides the perfect place to mount solar panels - in case you want to minimise your environmental footprint down the track.
I have a soft spot for the Caribbbean Bertram 42's, have skippered one in my formative years up and down the WA coast I can certainly vouch for the sea keeping ability.
