Boat safety is an important topic. Not all US made boats are built the same. Only a couple have full foam flotation to unsinkable level and they are way out of this price bracket except for Key West. Most boats under 6m have basic flotation which means capsizing and bobbing like a cork in the event of getting swamped, leaving you and your companions - wife, kids or mates in the water, struggling. Most boats over 6m do not have any flotation at all as it is not required by law. Those boats will sink like a stone if swamped. Every Key West model is tested until they achieve Level Flotation before it is released to the market. This means the boat will not capsize when swamped and filled with water. You and your family or mates stay in the boat, safe. It'll never happen? Everybody hopes not but flotation is one of those things I'd rather have and not need rather than something I need and don't have. If it isn't on the manufacturers website or printed material that their boats have full flotation then you know they haven't got it.
