Description: Sasga Yachts Minorchino 42 HT
Sasga Yachts build vessels with origins as far back as the Latin sailing boats that ploughed through the Mediterranan Sea crewed by Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Egyptians. These boats became commonly know as "Llauts".
As far back as the early 19th century, a 30 foot "Llaut" successfully followed Christopher Columbus' example by crossing the Atlantic Ocean to reach the Caribbean Sea.
A long way from these historical beginnings the Sasga Yachts Minorchino 42 (available as a Hard Top or optional Flybridge) is a luxury yacht - secure, comfortable and technologically advanced - as their design has been adapted to today.
Offering a refreshing alternative to the many 'similar looking' semi-displacement and planning boats, the new Minorchino 42 is built from sandwich composites by Sasga Yachts in Menorca Spain, and has been designed by Barracuda Yacht Design, who took 'retro' inspiration from the renowned sea-keeping and practical nature of centuries old "LlaĆ¼ts" - traditional, multi-chine boats used by Balearic fishermen still today.
Retaining the basic characteristics of the original design - a plumb bow with high freeboard, combined with rounded stern sections and a beam width with proportions carried almost the entire length of the hull - the designers of the Monorchino 42 have evolved and refined the original concept, with special attention paid to efficiency in all areas; including good fuel economy and importantly for today's cruising, low noise and vibration. In essence, the designers have turned this traditional design into a comfortable, efficient and practical option for today's leisure users.
Built from sandwich composites, the MINORCHINO 42 has a generous aft-deck area with ample space for outside dining and enjoying the weather. Similarly, the foredeck space includes a raised sunbathing area and the entire boat can be accessed via safe 'walk- around' side decks on both sides with traditional handrails for extra protection. A large swim-platform enables easy access for swimming and diving. Looking around the boat, subtle influences, such as a traditional wooden stem post, wooden navigation mast and traditional anchor roller at the bow, serve as pleasant reminders that this design has its roots set in the past.
Entered through tall 'patio-style' doors the large main cabin is a spacious saloon dominated by tall windows and generous head-room offering superb all round visibility and plenty of natural incoming light. The well laid out, functional two place helm position is on the starboard side. The Sasga Minorchino 42's large main cabin features a sofa and panoramic U shaped dining layout. As well as the six panoramic side windows the HT saloon has two overhead opening hatches and wide opening saloon doors to the large cockpit area. Tasteful, unadorned seat and cushion fabrics keep the mood calm and relaxing. The warm oak timber furniture and timber finishes complete the classical and practical ambience of the boat. From this main cabin area four shallow steps lead down to the U-shaped galley with everything provided for an extended period onboard. A "galley up" three sleeping cabins layout is offered as an option.
Owner's accommodation is taken care of via a large warm and inviting owner's cabin in the bow with a walk around 2 metre long by 1.5 metre wide island bed with storage underneath. Excellent standing head room and an overhead hatch as well as side windows create a feeling of relaxation and space. There is a twin berth cabin to starboard for guest or family accommodation complete with spacious warddrobes and windows. Thoughtfully designed and fitted out to an extremely high standard, each sleeping cabin has its own washroom with separate shower combined.
Propulsion via twin 260hp or 315hp engines offer cruising speeds up to a maximum of 20-24 knots and range in the area of 500+ miles at 12 knots and 300+ miles at 15 knots. Noise and vibration have been kept down to the bare minimum and both Barracuda Yacht Design and Sasga Yachts have turned this outwardly traditional design into a comfortable, efficient and practical option for today's leisure use.
The Sasga Yachts Minorchino 42 is available as a Hard Top or with a Flybridge with both models available in a two or three cabin layout.
The Minorchino 42 has a CE Certification - A Ocean, which is the highest recreational boat category, designed for extended voyages with winds of over Beaufort Force 8 (over 40 knots), and significant wave heights above 13 feet, but excluding abnormal conditions such as hurricanes.
