Description: Amel 55
Amel 55 - Performance World Cruising Yacht. Following the success experienced with the AMEL 64, the AMEL 55 was conceived inspired directly from the same modern and elegant design. The new AMEL style now comes in two sizes. The AMEL 55 project was developed and driven by the latest improvements to the design in terms of performance, 360 degree visibility from the helm, innovative ideas for comfortable layout options, but still keeping the AMEL fundamental assets. The 55 offers two versions : either three double cabins for the standard version, or one double forward and a very large aft cabin for two. The wood finish, polyurethane two-component multi-coat varnish and light coloured wood flooring (oak), fitted with numerous handrails and tastefully illuminated by spotlights and wall lamps (mainly LED), is bright and spacious. It provides excellent sky views, ventilation and light from its 4 opening deck hatches and ocean glimpses through its four large hull port lights. The companionway is well protected by the all weather wheelhouse so seldom needs to be shut even in rainy conditions. There is a large sliding table with extension in the saloon with seating for up to eight people in a U-shaped configuration. There is also a very comfortable settee opposite with a wet bar and storage for glasses. Finished in high quality upholstery and trim as standard, there are different upholstery options available on request. There are black-out blinds on all the port lights and fly screens for all hatches. There are lee cloths for the berths. Separated from the saloon by a sliding wooden door is the walk through to the aft cabin. This has a single navigation berth and storage lockers.
A well designed substantial wheelhouse, built from composite material with an integral carbon frame, makes every minute spent at the helm a pleasurable and comfortable experience in all weather. It features plexiglas forward and side windscreens for excellent undistorted vision. The opening central section combined with two opening hatches in the roof, offers breathtaking panoramic vision and excellent ventilation.
